On this week’s show, we’re finally back in the studio. Bret and Dan talk about some big fish caught at Tazin Lake Lodge, as well as a potential state-record fish caught in Minnesota. The two sit down in the boat and talk about fly fishing in northern Canada with the New Fly Fisher host Jenna Mckeown. She talks about her experience at Tazin, along with some tips on fly fishing for big northern pike. She also gives the guys some advice on getting started in the sport, and what gear to use at a place like Tazin, or anywhere else you’ll go fly fishing in northern Canada.
The guys also check in with Erik Osberg who has some really cool stories about his son Willie’s time at Camp Voyageur in Ely. He tells us why you should send your kid to Camp Voyageur. He also tells us how his son Willie helped out the camp counselors with some fishing tips and tricks, and even with feeding the rest of the crew. He also tells us why Otter Tail Lakes Country is a great summer destination for the whole family.
Joe Henry is back once again to tell us why you need to go fishing at Lake of the Woods right now. He tells us what to use to catch those giant fish that LOW produces in the summertime, and why Lake of the Woods is such a great lake in the dog days of summer when most other lakes are tough to fish for walleyes. He also has an update on the water levels at Lake of the Woods and how resorts are doing with this tricky summer.
