Spring Issue Cover Revealed!

There’s a great, albeit short, story behind this cover photo.

I’d been trying to find a good shot for the cover and there are some great turkey shots out there from a number of our contributors.  I needed one quickly and I mentioned to Ben Brettingen that I was looking for a tom strutting through the woods.  He replied with, “I’ll head out tonight and see what I can get.”

He went to one of his favorite spots, called in a gobbler to 5 yards and BAM!  We had a cover shot.  (If you want Ben for a turkey calling seminar, he’s available!)

We’ve got a great spring issue lined up for you:

Bill Marchel – Spring Photo Essay.  Bill has a great essay for us that includes courtship rituals from ducks, grouse, pheasants, turkeys and more.

Nicole Larson’s Record Tom – Nicole “reaped” a huge tom last year and we’ve got the story in this next issue.

Tyler Scott – Youth Turkey.  How young should you get someone started turkey hunting?  How about this story of a 5-year-old girl that bagged a great bird last fall?!

Jason Mitchell – Getting on late ice chasing big perch is something that Jason knows all to well.

Ben Brettingen – Ben has got stories on turkey hunting and what he went through last year for the walleye opener.

Erik Thue – Cold weather fly fishing.  How to deal with frozen fingers on the fly

Katy Turner – Morel Mushrooms – Learning about hunting from our fathers include more than birds and animals.

Jake Flaa – Huge pike on tip-ups.  Jake experienced one of those days that we all dream of.  Multiple fish over 40″-all in one afternoon.

Of course we’ve got some great photography and more from Matt Soberg, shed hunting and spring migration pictures.  Now is the time to subscribe to get it delivered right to your door.  Click on “subscribe” on the left column today.
