These fish are now off limits; Bowfishing opens!

It’s that time of year.  Walleye are now closed, along with bass and northern pike.  Walleye and northern pike will reopen on May 10th.  Bass open on May 10th or May 24th, depending on where you are in the state.  Muskie opens June 7th.

Reminder that your 2013 Minnesota Fishing license expires on Feb 28th, with a few border water exceptions.

Fish houses must be off the ice:

Ice houses must be off the ice each night unless attended south of Hwy 10, Hwy 34, Hwy 200 and Hwy 2 by March 3rd. 

Ice houses must be off the ice each night unless attended north of Hwy 10, Hwy 34, Hwy 200 and Hwy 2 by March 17th.

A number of trout seasons are open now, with more opportunities beginning on April 1st.

web banner 366 x 280fishouseThe early bow season has opened up however.  We need some open water for it and it has to be from a boat, but you can get out and draw on some mega carp starting today.  We’ll talk to Brian Petschl from the Land o’ Lakes Bowfishing Association on this weekend’s MNSJ Radio show for more info.
