I love to fish and last weekend was blessed to get away to northern Minnesota for a great time of fishing with my brother and cousin. Although our location will have to go unnamed, we were way up there. We couldn’t escape the rain and the walleyes couldn’t escape our undeniable fishing technique.
We had an amazing baked walleye dinner with caramelized onion, crushed garlic and walleye cheeks. Everybody knows that the fillets of a walleye are good but most people do not know about walleye cheeks. Believe it or not, they are a real treat. Walleye cheeks are the north woods version of a scallop.

It was a great relaxing time fishing with family in the beautiful north country and that’s what keeps up going back.
