Lake of the Woods Magic

If you have been to the NW Angle on Lake of the Woods and have sent your offering to the depths, you know what can come back up!  My annual June trip has always been littered with big fish, and this year was no exception.

The first 2 hours in the boat yielded 6 walleyes over 24″ with a 31″ topping the chart. Jigs & Crawlers, or Moxis were the top producers with Rippin’ Raps coming in second. Hint hint…you’ll also want to pick up Rapala’s new Scatter Rap!

The smallies were on fire too! The water is a little cooler, so the bass weren’t quite making their shallow push to spawn but they were hanging out in the 7-15 ft range, and snacking on jigs and plastics. We found a rock shoal which put out 18 smallies on consecutive casts. All of them were candidates for weight watchers, well actually gastric bypass, super tanks!

The weather has  been awesome and we are continuing to search for the next giant!
