I hadn’t heard that Tom Knapp had even gotten sick. So when I received a text message from my brother that mentioned his passing, I quickly thumbed my phone’s screen to work google.
“Legendary trick shooter passes away at 62.” The cause was pulmonary fibrosis.

Fortunately I finally had the chance to meet Tom at this year’s Pheasant Fest. The Minnesota Sporting Journal booth was located just across from Crazy Quail, one of Tom’s sponsors. He came by and I was able to shake his hand and even get a picture taken, (while wearing my brand new, wrinkled Pheasants Forever t-shirt).

I have a friend, Jason Steussy from Your Story Video, who would travel to Argentina with Tom to film his hunts down there. I tried to convince him that Tom needed a voice over artist to travel with to be able to narrate the video with authenticity. It never worked, but you can’t blame a guy for trying.

I ws one of the blessed that attended one of his shoots & met him at Shot. Beyond argueably the best exhibition shooter of all time he was a fine, caring, generous to a fault, GENTLEMAN…Heaven gained one heck of an Angel & we lost a great ambassador of the shooting sports.
May you rest in peace Tom and may your shell bag never be empty…R.I.P sir…nut Im sure you will never allow your barrel to become to cool!
