Yes there are Minnesotans who are dedicated to putting “sheep in the mountains”.
The Midwest Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation will be holding it’s annual banquet, auction and fundraiser this Saturday, March 23rd at the Minneapolis Marriott Southwest in Minnetonka.
Doors open at noon, the afternoon auction begins at 1pm, dinner is at 5:30, with the evening auction kicking off at 6:30.
There is also a huge silent auction that I always make too much noise at. Items available through the various auctions include lion hunts, Argentina dove hunts, New Zealand hunts, and other hunts around the world. Guns, gear and fishing trips are all a part of it as well.
A couple items that will be of particular importance will be a sheep hunt in Hawaii, a South Dakota sheep tag, a Wyoming sheep license, a North Dakota sheep tag (they only give out a handful of these!), and many other once in a lifetime hunts.
There are a number of prizes to win in the raffle or bid on in the auctions, but the bottom line here is raising money for the sheep. There is also a youth event in Arizona that they will be raising funds for and sending area kids to.
