It feels like I have been living on the ice for the past month, and have been able to witness a ton of giant fish being iced, amazing winter sunrises & sunsets and learning a ton of fishing tricks every time I go! Here are some of the fish & scenery I have laid eyes on this winter.
Here are a couple shots from Central North Dakota where Joel, James, and I were led out to a jumbo perch beat down by good friend Travis Genz.
The sunrise was spectacular this morning as we snuck back to a tiny lake in Central Minnesota, and pounded the true pound gills.
This was our most recent adventure to a Cass County lake where we lit up the slabs. It was also confirmed you can fit a 15″ Crappie through a 5″ hole, but we wouldn’t suggest it or try it again! Watch the video to see why!
Here is our first trip up to LOTW this winter, we battled brutal cold temperatures, forcing us into portables. Big fish were still to be had! Pictured is Dave Koonce from Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin, with a beefy LOTW eye, a rarity coming from southern Wisconsin.
I was able to spend a few days off for New Years and hit one of the best sledding hills in Minnesota. It wasn’t for the faint of heart as the entire day was full of wipeouts and laughs by the whole crew. We even found one of the craftiest squirrels out there!
Mille Lacs was another interesting adventure, as the first time we hit the big pond there was 2 inches of ice and pouring rain. Wasn’t a good combination! The ice in front of our access gave way right underneath our side-by-side as we barely escaped taking an impromptu polar plunge!
This was a short trip up to Northwestern Minnesota where we got onto some giant Crappies, unfortunately the numbers weren’t there, but who doesn’t like catching 15.5″ slabs?
Good times on the ice!
