You can’t complain, a day off of school spent hunting pheasants! This is what I heard numerous times this past friday as I spent the morning out at Wings of Watertown for the Waconia Conservation Club annual pheasant hunt. The first group consisted of a couple dozen guys & gals, chomping at the bit to hit the fields. After the birds were set, safety protocols were ingrained, it was time to start the march.

The dogs were restless, as were the kids and myself. The birds were in for it! They did a dang good job knocking down birds, and filling the sky full of steel!

Now unfortunately I wasn’t behind the camera, I had to leave before a lot of the action started. As I handed over my camera to Eric Wolf of Avery Outdoors, I headed east, a lot farther east. To be precise Escanaba, Michigan. The reasoning lies in the depths of Lake Michigan. Be sure to check back to hear tales of the “Walleyeless Yooper” (we hope not)& why in the world am I here.
